Stainless Steel Products HS Code — Kitchenware, Bottles & Hardware
Stainless steel products are one of the highest-volume Amazon FBA categories, from water bottles to cutlery sets to kitchen organizers. The HS code depends on the product's function, not just the material. A stainless steel water bottle and a stainless steel shelf bracket use the same metal but classify under completely different chapters.

Kitchen and table articles
HS 7323.93 — table, kitchen, or other household articles and parts thereof, of stainless steel. This is the workhorse code for stainless steel consumer goods.
Covers: pots, pans, mixing bowls, colanders, measuring cups, baking sheets, utensil holders, dish racks, food storage containers (if not vacuum-insulated).
US duty: 2% for most items under 7323.93. EU: 3.5%. Canada: 6.5%. UK: 3.5%.
Insulated bottles and flasks
Vacuum-insulated bottles (like Hydro Flask, Stanley, Yeti clones) do NOT classify under 7323.93. They go to HS 9617.00 — vacuum flasks and other vacuum vessels, and parts thereof.
Why? The vacuum insulation is the defining feature, not the stainless steel. A plastic vacuum bottle and a stainless steel one both go to 9617.00.
US duty for 9617.00: 7.2%. That's 3.5x the rate of regular stainless steel kitchenware. On a $5 FOB bottle, the difference is $0.26/unit. Worth knowing when you're importing 50,000 units.

- 7326.90 covers: shelf brackets, cable organizers, hooks, clips, hardware accessories, organizational products. US duty: 3.9%.
- 8211.10 — knife sets (assorted knives in a block or roll). US duty: varies by blade type, typically 0.9¢ each + 3.7%.
- 8215.20 — other sets of kitchen utensils (serving sets, utensil sets). US duty: 3.2%.
- 7324.10 — stainless steel sinks. US duty: 3.4%.
Antidumping on stainless steel
The US has antidumping orders on stainless steel sheet and strip from several countries (China, India, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan). This applies to raw material, not finished consumer goods. But if you're importing semi-finished stainless steel for manufacturing, check the current AD order for your specific origin + grade.
